Raw Goat Milk Herdshare
Our herd share is now accepting new members!

How does it work?
Accessing milk is done through a herd share membership. Each share entitles you to a gallon of fresh milk each week. You can purchase multiple shares or half shares. This membership fee is refundable upon cancelling your membership.
What does it cost?
Each share buy in amount is $__. This is a one-time, refundable fee. Then there is a $60 per month boarding fee per share which pays for the care of your portion of the goat herd.
Is there a contract?
Yes, there is a contract. The contract can be stopped at any time by either party.
How is milk packaged?
We currently package our milk in 1/2-gallon glass jars with plastic lids. There is an initial jar deposit fee of $10 per share ($5/jar). The next time you come pick up your milk you bring your empty, washed jars and exchange them for full jars. Jars are washed and sanitized prior to being refilled.
How is pickup managed?
You pick up your milk on a mutually agreed upon day of the week. This is the same day every week. Milk pickup days are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Milk can be picked up between 9am and 7pm from our Milk Pick Up Room where your fresh, chilled milk is stored in the refrigerator. It is recommended that you bring a cooler with ice packs to transport your fresh milk.
Do you sell any other products?
In addition to fresh milk we offer other products. Some items include grassfed and finished beef, farm fresh eggs, raw honey, and a variety of produce and herbal products.
Friendly reminder: Please be aware that our farm is both a working farm and private residence, so we ask visitors to refrain from trespassing into areas other than the Milk Pick Up room. For your safety and theirs, please do not touch or feed the animals. Thank you!
Do we test our milk?
Yes, not only are we required to test for Coliform and SPC bacteria by Iowa law, as part of our RAWMI certification we are required too as well. We adhere to the RAWMI testing guidelines which are stricter than the state requirements. Milk is tested several times per month to ensure quality of our milk. RAWMI requires our Coliform (E.Coli is part of this family) counts are below 10 per milliliter and SPC bacteria are below 5,000 per milliliter. We have always met these requirements through the diligent adherence of the RAWMI Common Standards. Our test results are always available for review.
We adhere to the stringent, but manageable RAWMI Common Standards and our detailed Risk Analysis and Management Plan (RAMP) is available on the RAWMI website Listed Farmers — Raw Milk Institute
Do we test our animals?
Yes, our cows are checked by our local veterinarian and tested yearly. They are free of TB, Brucellosis, Johnes, BLV, Lepto, Q-Fever, and BVD.
Do we use antibiotics?
We do not use antibiotics as a regular treatment option for our animals, nor are they used for production or growth improvement. This is not to say we would never use them. We prefer to use natural alternative treatments as a first line of defense when it is needed. Of course, if an antibiotic is needed to protect the animal's quality of life or for healing purposes, we will use them. If a cow is needing such treatment it is removed from the milking line up and strict antibiotic and milk withdrawal protocols are adhered to. Because we want to be transparent with our herd share owners, this information would be shared with them as well as noted in our records.
